WELCOME THE STRANGER
Journey from Afghanistan to Sacramento — An Afternoon of Tea and a Taste of Afghan Food

Congregation B’nai Israel’s Immigration and Refugee Assistance Committee Fundraiser to Support the Habibi Family | Cosponsored by Women of B’nai Israel and the CBI Brotherhood

Sunday, November 3, 2024 | 3:00 – 5:00 PM | CBI Social Hall

  • Join us for a delightful afternoon tea with a taste of Afghan food.
  • Bar Mitzvah student Shael Pruger will welcome the Habibi family. His Mitzvah Project is Welcome the Stranger and he will discuss how that looks and feels in modern times.
  • Hear about the WHY, the HOW, and the WHERE of the Habibi’s JOURNEY from Afghanistan to SACRAMENTO during interviews with family members.
  • Plus, who is an Accredited Representative in the search for asylum? Diana Maldonado will speak about the role of an Accredited Representative in an asylum case.

We ask for a tax-deductible donation to attend this fundraiser of either $18, $36, or $72 per ticket. Students and refugee guests may attend free of charge. All proceeds will go to CBI's Immigration and Refugee Assistance Committee to support the Habibi Family.

Ticket sales have now closed as this event has concluded. Donations to the Immigration and Refugee Assistance Committee are welcome below.

For more information or to join the committee, please call/text Immigration and Refugee Assistance Committee Co-Chairs Larry Friedman and Sue Saunders at 415-235-3766 or email lovethestrangercbi@gmail.com.

All donations are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Please note: when you make a donation online using a credit card, you will be asked during the payment process if you'd like to include a "convenience fee." The convenience fee (approximately 2.7% of the transaction) helps us offset processing costs of your payment.
